As part of the “immunization neighborhood,” pharmacists are an easy-to-access member of the healthcare team.

Religious Leaders Help in Changing Misconceptions about the Polio Vaccine: In Pakistan, polio remains endemic and some families refuse to accept polio vaccine for political and religious reasons. Getting local imams involved in decreeing that vaccines are safe and addressing fears has been very effective in getting more children vaccinated. (UNICEF Television).

Expert Panel Discussion: Achieving Childhood Vaccination Success in the US: The National Meningitis Association hosted this 90-minute panel discussion in May 2016, where six national immunization experts discuss vaccine concerns. Topics such as parent and healthcare provider resistance, media concerns, and laws and mandates were covered by the panel.

HPV Survivor - Tamika Felder: Tamika talks about initially feeling ashamed when she was treated for cervical cancer. Later she decided it was more important to help others who were diagnosed with HPV-related cancer by speaking out about her experience and educating parents and healthcare professionals about HPV vaccine (from National HPV Vaccination Roundtable and American Cancer Society).

Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson 2016/2017 Flu Vaccine Recommendations: In this video message for families, Dr. Swanson reviews this season’s influenza vaccination recommendations and encourages families to go into medical offices and get vaccinated together. She urges pregnant women and people with chronic health conditions to be vaccinated as well (from AAP, NFID, Seattle Children’s).
