CDC Provides Vaccine Recommendations for the 2016-2017 Influenza Season: Dr. Lisa Grohskopf from CDC's Influenza Division provides this Medscape Expert Commentary highlighting the 2016-2017 influenza vaccination recommendations from ACIP which include that everyone age 6 months and older should be vaccinated against influenza if they have no contraindications. Free, but Medscape log-in is required.

Our Best Shot: The Importance of Vaccines for Older Adults: This short, animated video from the Alliance for Aging Research describes how vaccines work and highlights the importance of vaccination. Adults should talk with healthcare professionals about which vaccines they need based on their age, job, lifestyle, travel, and health status.

Why Vaccinate Against HPV? If you could protect yourself or your children from developing cancer through taking a shot, would you? This animated video from Risk Bites looks at why HPV vaccine is recommended for protection against cervical cancer and other cancers, including penile, anal, head and neck and also reviews how the benefits of receiving HPV vaccine outweigh the risks.

Flu Vaccine for People with Egg Allergies: Medscape Expert Commentary is provided by Dr. Lisa Grohskopf, CDC's Influenza Division. She reports that since there are low levels of egg protein in the flu vaccine and there is a low likelihood of allergic reactions, for the 2016-2017 flu season, ACIP has revised its recommendations. People with a history of egg allergy who have experienced only hives after exposure to egg should receive influenza vaccine. Free to view, but Medscape log-in is required.
