Technically Speaking
Monthly Column by Deborah Wexler, MD
Deborah Wexler MD
Technically Speaking is a monthly column written by IAC’s Executive Director Deborah Wexler, MD. The column is featured in The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Vaccine Education Center’s (VEC's) monthly e-newsletter for healthcare professionals. Technically Speaking columns cover practical topics in immunization delivery such as needle length, vaccine administration, cold chain, and immunization schedules.
Check out a recent issue of Vaccine Update for Healthcare Providers. The VEC e-newsletter keeps providers up to date on vaccine-related issues and includes reviews of recently published journal articles, media recaps, announcements about new resources, and a regularly updated calendar of events.

Published December 2017
Busy healthcare professionals don’t have an abundance of time to track down the immunization resources they need at a moment’s notice. That’s where the Immunization Action Coalition’s website comes in. For more than 20 years, IAC has been providing its website visitors with the practical and essential content they need. Available 24/7, IAC’s website serves about 25,000 visitors daily.

Here are some of the IAC website’s most popular sections:

Patient handouts and staff educational materials — All are free, downloadable, and ready to copy.

IAC is the most reliable, “go-to” source of free, CDC-reviewed immunization education materials for healthcare professionals and their patients. More than 300 different ready-to-print materials are available online, some in multiple languages. To access them, visit IAC’s “Handouts” web section.

You can also access a complete and sortable list of all IAC educational materials on a single webpage.

IAC Express — Our free weekly email news service with more than 50,000 subscribers — join them!

Since 1997, IAC Express has been publishing up-to-date information about new ACIP vaccine recommendations, FDA vaccine licensures, Vaccine Information Statements, immunization education materials, and more. Ask the Experts — Get answers to your vaccination questions from CDC experts.

On IAC’s Ask the Experts web section, you’ll find answers from CDC experts to timely and challenging questions about vaccines and their administration. More than a thousand Q&As are available, sorted into categories by vaccines and additional topics. Find answers to your questions at IAC’s “Ask the Experts” web section.

Translations of Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) — Find federally mandated vaccine fact sheets at your fingertips.

IAC maintains an online index of the federally mandated VISs for which hundreds of translations are available in more than 30 languages. This compendium of VIS translations can be accessed at the IAC’s “VIS” web section on immunize.org.
