Some of the specific new recommendations in this statement include the following: elimination of egg allergy as a contraindication to administering MMR vaccine; change in the recommended timing of the two doses of MMR to 12-15 months for the first dose and 4-6 years of age for the second dose; a recommendation that all persons who work in health-care facilities have acceptable evidence of measles and rubella immunity;  clarification of the role of serologic screening to determine immunity; modification of the definition of rubella immunity; and much more.  To obtain an electronic copy of this statement in the mail, send an e-mail request to the National Immunization Program and ask for this publication by name.
