NVAC MEETING SET FOR JUNE 5-6 IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

The National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) will meet June 5-6, 2001, in Washington, D.C., at the Hubert Humphrey Building, 200 Independence Avenue. NVAC meets three times a year in Washington, D.C., to advise and make recommendations to the Director of the National Vaccine Program. NVAC's purpose includes studying and recommending research priorities and ways to encourage an adequate supply of safe and effective vaccines in the United States.

The meeting agenda is available from the website of the National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO) at: http://www.cdc.gov/od/nvpo/calendar.htm

The NVAC Subcommittee on Vaccine Safety and Communications meeting on June 5 from 2 to 5:30 pm will provide a forum for the public to make recommendations on safety issues to be reviewed by the Institute of Medicine's Vaccine Safety Review Committee in 2002. This will be one of the first opportunities for the public to provide comments on hypotheses that are being considered for future review. A complete agenda for this subcommittee meeting can be found on the website of the NVPO at: http://www.cdc.gov/od/nvpo/vacsafejune2001.pdf

For more information on the NVAC meeting, contact Shaunette Crawford of NVPO at (404) 687-6672.
