Assessment Software Application (CASA)
The Comprehensive Clinic Assessment Software Application (CoCASA) is a
tool
for assessing immunization practices within a clinic, private practice,
or
any other environment where immunizations are provided. This software is
designed to be used in conjunction with the AFIX strategy. |
Immunization
Safety Office
CDC's Immunization Safety Office identifies possible vaccine side effects
and conducts studies to determine whether a health problem is caused by
a specific vaccine. |

Morbidity
and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR)
The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Series is prepared by
the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The data in the weekly
MMWR are based on weekly reports to CDC by state health departments. The
MMWR weekly contains data on specific diseases as reported by state and
territorial health departments, including reports on vaccine-preventable
diseases. Also included are reports on topics of international interest
and
notices of events of interest to the public health community. ACIP
recommendations, as well as the child and adult immunization schedules,
are
published in the MMWR Recommendations and Reports. |
National
Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases
NCIRD (established spring 2007) replaces the name National Immunization
Program (NIP). NCIRD is an interdisciplinary immunization program that
brings together vaccine-preventable disease science and research with
immunization program activities. |
National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
NIOSH is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making
recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness.
NIOSH
is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the
Department of Health and Human Services. |
National
Vaccine Program Office
NVPO is designated to provide leadership and coordination among Federal
agencies, as they work together to carry out the goals of the National
Vaccine Plan. |
Public
Health Training Network
PHTN is a distance learning network of people and resources that takes
training and information to the learner. PHTN uses a variety of
instructional media ranging from print-based to videotape and multimedia
to
meet the training and information needs of the health workforce nationwide. |
Travelers'
Health
The purpose of the CDC Travelers' Health website is to provide information,
based on scientific studies, disease surveillance, and best practices,
to
assist travelers and their health-care providers in deciding the vaccines,
medications, and other measures necessary to prevent illness and injury
during international travel. |
Vaccines
For Children (VFC) Program
The VFC program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at
no
cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of inability

answers document, VFC Operations Guide, Vaccine Administration Fees, and
the
CDC Vaccine Price List. |
Viral
Hepatitis
The Division of Viral Hepatitis is the Public Health Service component
that provides the scientific and programmatic foundation for the prevention,
control, and elimination of hepatitis virus infections in the United States,
and assists the international public health community in these activities. |
