HEPATITIS B IMMUNIZATION PROGRAMS MAKE PROGRESS GLOBALLY
An article titled "Infant and Adolescent Hepatitis B Immunization up to 1999: A
Global Overview" was published in the December 8, 2000, issue of VACCINE. The programs of many
countries are summarized and compared in the text and accompanying maps, showing that 108 countries have universal
infant or adolescent hepatitis B immunization programs and 87 countries reported their
national infant coverage rates. Several programs documented decreases in hepatitis B virus
infection and disease in their populations, but worldwide, most infants are still not being immunized against hepatitis
B. Readers can see how their nation's program compares worldwide and learn about programs
in the countries of origin of immigrants in their communities.

CDC'S "GUIDELINES FOR VACCINATING PREGNANT WOMEN" NOW AVAILABLE IN SPANISH ON IAC'S WEBSITE
CDC's guidelines for vaccinating pregnant women are now available on IAC's website in Spanish as well as English.
This 15-page document includes relevant passages from recommendations made by the Advisory Committee
on Immunization Practices (ACIP). The reference section of the document includes information about prenatal screening for
vaccine-preventable diseases and vaccinations for women who are breastfeeding.

MANY NEW TURKISH TRANSLATIONS AVAILABLE ON IAC'S WEBSITE
