1.  Wow! IAC has immunization record cards for patients of all ages—for children and teens, for adults, for a lifetime!

IAC recently added two brand new vaccination record cards to its lineup of immunization resources. The new cards—one for recording child and teen vaccinations and another for recording lifetime vaccinations—join IAC's popular (more than 5 million sold!) adult immunization record card. The card trio offers health professionals a way to help any patient maintain a permanent record of their vaccinations. A patient-held card is handy for patients when they enter school, change healthcare providers, or travel abroad.

Designed for a specific age group, each card lists all vaccines recommended for people in the age group. Features of the cards include the following:

  • All recently licensed vaccines: MCV, HPV, Rota, Tdap, zoster
  • Due date for next vaccine dose (booster dose or next dose in a series)
  • Patient's name and birth date on both sides (helpful when photocopying)
  • Space for patient I.D. number
  • Links to IAC's websites for reference

The three cards are printed on durable rip-, smudge-, and water-proof paper. Sized to fit in a wallet, each is brightly and distinctively colored to stand out—the child and teen card is bright orange; the adult card, sunshine yellow; and the lifetime card, lime green.

The cards are priced at one box (250 cards) for $35. The first order of a 250-card box comes with a 30-day, money-back guarantee. Discounts are available for larger orders: two boxes (500 cards) for $65; three boxes (750 cards) for $90; four boxes (1000 cards) for $110. To request sample cards, send your request to admin@immunize.org

NOTE: Several states distribute their own record cards free of charge, and if your state has them, IAC encourages you to use them. If you don't know if they do, contact your state immunization program. For phone numbers, go to: http://www.immunize.org/coordinators

4 Training video and CD-ROM toolkit provide great guidance on vaccine administration and storage/handling

If you vaccinate children or adults, your practice needs the training video "Immunization Techniques: Safe, Effective, Caring" and the CD-ROM "Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit." Following are details on both.

Video: Developed by the California Department of Health Services Immunization Branch in collaboration with a team of national experts, this 35-minute video teaches best practices for administering intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) vaccines to infants, children, and adults. It is designed for use as a "hands-on" instructional program for new staff and as a refresher course for experienced vaccinators.

The video is available in VHS tape and DVD formats. The price of the VHS is $30; the price of the DVD is $35. Discount pricing is available on orders of 20 or more copies.

CD-ROM. Created by CDC in June 2005, the CD-ROM toolkit provides everything you want to know about vaccine storage and handling on one CD. It includes

  • Guidelines that cover temperature monitoring, inventory management, troubleshooting, and more
  • Two videos: "How to Protect Your Vaccine Supply" and "Top 10 Storage and Handling Errors"
  • An array of print resources: forms, checklists, posters, and contact information

A price of $15 makes this CD-ROM one of today's best immunization values! Discount pricing is available on orders of 20 or more copies.

To learn more about the training video and storage/handling toolkit, and to view images of each, visit IAC's new web page, "Shop IAC."
